Toby from Haringey is in favour of road pricing because “I think it’s only fair to charge drivers a fee for using a relatively large amount of public space to use a machine which is so detrimental to society. Road pricing will also help drivers to consider alternative modes of transport in an effort to save money (among many benefits).”
He says, “We already have the tech to make it work. Road pricing costs should be staggered dependent on the vehicle’s weight and size, with no exemption for electric cars (as they still use the same amount space and are heavier than non-electric cars). It should also cost more to use the roads at peak times.”
